Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

I am currently offering services to patients birth-3 years old focusing on the following:

  • Early Language Development and Improvement

  • Monitoring of Speech and Language Milestones

  • Parent Coaching

How often is therapy?

I typically recommend one session per week. However, a benefit to my services is flexibility. We can always increase/decrease frequency as needed. Taking breaks from therapy is also an option based upon your child’s progress and your family’s needs.

Why do you only take private pay?

Benefits of private-pay therapy services over use of insurance include:

  • Flexibility in scheduling and frequency of care

  • Consistently receiving treatment from one therapist

  • No limitations from insurance companies, such as delays while waiting for approval or being limited by the number of sessions insurance approves

What is it like to work with you?

Collaborative, meaningful, and fun!

Families are just as much part of the treatment team as me! I consistently include families in the evaluation and treatment process, individualizing therapy specifically to your child’s needs and your goals.

My therapy approach is play-based. Kids learn best through play and in environments where they consistently spend time with you, making it easier for both you and your child to learn the skills!

Is there research that supports therapy in everyday environments?

What about research supporting starting therapy so young?

Yes! Research consistently supports children with greater improvements in daily environments compared to clinic based, as well as starting therapy sooner rather than taking a “wait and see” approach.

  • Up to 9 out of 10 children show measurable vocabulary and language growth when interventions are embedded in daily routines.

    • Rakap, S., & Rakap, E. (2014). Parent-implemented naturalistic language interventions for young children with disabilities: A systematic review. Educational Research Review, 13, 35–51.

  • Children receiving parent-implemented naturalistic interventions are 3-5x more likely to improve their expressive language compared to children in traditional, clinic-only programs.

    • Roberts, M. Y., & Kaiser, A. P. (2011). The effectiveness of parent-implemented language interventions on child language skills: A meta-analysis.

  • Children practicing language in natural settings generalize these skills to new activities and environments 8-9 out of 10 times, far more than with structured clinic-based sessions.
